ぬるま湯にウール洗い用の洗剤を溶かし、３０分ほど浸け置きます。
押し洗いをし、すすいだあとに１分ほど脱水をし、形を整えて干してください。
形を整える際に、ラノリンのクリームなどをごく少量手につけ、マット全体をなでると美しい艶が出て、水や汚れを弾く効果も強まります。
